LONG BRANCH, January 19 – No bones about it – audiences who see Seashore elementary students perform “101 Dalmatians” next Friday, January 27 at 7p.m. in Seashore’s Theater at 410 Broadway in Long Branch are in for a real treat. Lead third grade Noelle Rustico, as villain Cruella De Vill, and a cast of 50 first through fourth graders will not only bring down the house in a high-energy professionally produced version of the Disney Classic guaranteed to make theater goers swear they are on Broadway in NYC instead of Long Branch. They will help raise money for Wag On Inn, a New Jersey recognized rescue organization in Monmouth County that rehomes dogs and cats.
“We wanted to tie in the Dalmatians theme to a worthwhile cause that helps animals and, at the same time, teach children the importance of using their skills to give back like actors do following the grand finale in many shows on Broadway,” said veteran director Renee Harrison Pincus, award-winning director/producer Anthony Greco and musical director Julia Silverman.
While tickets to the show are free, Wag On Inn “Paws” can be purchased for $2 in advance or at the door. Chances for $2 apiece to guess how many bones are in our No Bones About It Contest will also be on sale that evening. The person with the closest guess will take home the bones.
According to Harrison Pincus and Greco, students have been rehearsing since September, mastering song and dance numbers that once again will raise the bar on what can be expected from performers as young as six. Seats are limited and are available first come, first served – so those interested are encouraged to arrive early.
The Seashore School, which opened in 1974, is designed for families who want a smaller class size and more progressive curriculum than their town offers, at an affordable tuition. Starting with preschool and going through eighth grade, the curriculum includes advanced foreign language, computers, science and swimming lessons, along with training in dance, music, drama and art. The approach to education is so successful that students perform a grade above their peers, score in the top percentile in standardized exams, win prestigious awards, are recognized nationally for academic achievement and typically gain acceptance into the high schools of their choice.
