LONG BRANCH, January 23, 2007-- Seashore was observed by the American Camping Association (ACA) last summer and after proving excellence in every category was awarded ACA Accredited Camp status for the 2007 year.
“To earn this distinction, Seashore submitted to a thorough (over 300 standards) review detailing every aspect of its operation and complied with the highest standards in the industry,” said Cindy Moore, National Standards Commission.
According to Moore, ACA accreditation is the best evidence parents have of a camp's commitment to a safe and nurturing environment for their children. This voluntary accreditation assures that camp practices have been measured against national standards and go a step beyond a state's basic licensing requirements.
During Seashore’s on-site inspection, reviewers looked at everything from swim instruction, lifeguards, activities, rock wall and Trampoline Thing procedures to transportation and emergency protocol.
While the camp as a whole passed with flying colors, receiving a 100% rating, the part of the program that impressed the accreditation committee the most was swimming. Children were so proficient in all four strokes that they couldn’t believe the camp was able to teach to that level as part of its operation.
