ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (GRADES 1-4)

Our elementary school is designed for families who want a smaller class size and more progressive program than their town offers. With an advanced curriculum that focuses on academics, athletics and the arts, extensive technology department, 7 to 1 student teacher ratio and personalized approach, Seashore offers everything you would expect from a private school except the high price tag.

An Elementary School That's Anything But Elementary

At this level, classroom instructors teach fundamental academic skills such as reading, language arts, math, science and social studies, while specialists cover Spanish, computers, art, music, swimming and physical education. Academic excellence is a priority and each child is watched closely to ensure he or she fully understands the subject matter. Those ready for more are placed at the next grade level for reading and math.

The Emphasis Is On Developing Critical Thinking,
Technology & Communication Skills

Children do not just memorize facts and times tables. From a very young age, they learn by doing and are encouraged to think, to question and to apply their knowledge. By supplementing classroom instruction with hands-on experiments in our science lab, we give students a chance to see how the applications they are learning really work and gain a better understanding of the weather, magnets, minerals and motion. And by planting and harvesting their Edible Schoolyard, they find out about ecosystems, how nature sustains life and that real food comes from the ground not a vending machine.

Students Master Advanced Hardware and Software Computer Skills

In addition, elementary students learn how to operate a computer and acquire word processing, research and Internet safety skills. Starting in second grade, they also learn PowerPoint and graphics programs that help with presentations across disciplines in elementary school, intermediate school and beyond. To encourage them to use technology, there is a 20-unit computer lab, Promethean white boards, and computer assisted math and science labs.

Performing Arts Program “On Broadway”

As part of the curriculum, first through fourth graders master singing, dance, and acting skills needed to take center stage in productions including The Little Mermaid, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and 101 Dalmatians. The also can try out for Seashore Players, an after school company that presents large scale professionally produced shows including Annie, Willie Wonka, Once Upon A Mattress, Into The Woods and Wizard Of Oz with live orchestras, authentic costumes and special effects.

We Also Develop Positive Study Habits Needed To Succeed In Intermediate School

Along with providing a solid educational foundation, we help students develop study habits, which will benefit them in later years. We teach them where to look for information, how to use it and how to communicate their findings effectively. As they advance through the program, they also learn how to organize their time and break projects into manageable tasks, so they will be prepared for the challenges that lie ahead in grades five through eight.
