Journalism Conference At Columbia University

As part of Seashore’s journalism class, students will attend the 72nd Fall Conference sponsored by Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) Monday, November 7 at Columbia University's historic Morningside Heights campus in Manhattan. The program will cover all aspects of student publishing. It is rich and varied, with top advisers and journalists serving as session leaders. Topics include writing and editing; design and layout; photo journalism, suggestions for special areas of coverage, how to create compelling articles using story ideas, background material and writing styles from The New York Times, and more. After attending last year’s conference, students transformed their four-page newsletter into an eight-page broadsheet, scored outstanding marks in writing and design, and won a silver medal from CSPA judges at Columbia University!
