At The Seashore School, we are committed to giving students a rich, well-rounded education, which includes trips that enhance classroom learning and provide a greater understanding of the material covered. As part of our performing arts and history curriculum, students will have an opportunity to see 5-Time Tony Winner WAR HORSE at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center. Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo in association with Handspring Puppet Company, WAR HORSE travels from the verdant English countryside to the fields of France and Germany at the outbreak of World War I. A boy's beloved horse has been sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. Caught up in enemy fire, the horse serves on both sides of the war, and survives an odyssey that leaves him alone in no-man's land. The boy, now a young man, cannot forget his horse, and embarks on a treacherous mission to bring him home. The internationally acclaimed drama of indescribable grandeur and sheer inventiveness is hailed “the most magical production ever staged for the Beaumont.” There are breathing, galloping, charging horses on the stage - their flanks, hides and sinews built of steel, leather and aircraft cables. They are life-size puppets strong enough for men to ride. Tickets to this show are $60, which includes round-trip transportation. Seats are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
